The Carole Robertson Center for Learning's planned renovation of its South Lawndale childhood education facility would be supported through a $1.1 million Neighborhood Opportunity Fund (NOF) grant proposed to City Council today by Mayor Brandon Johnson.

The $11.9 million project would modernize the nonprofit's 37,000-square-foot flagship location at 2929 W. 19th St., which services more than 500 children and families from the area every year.

NOF grants are funded by fees paid by downtown construction projects in support of commercial corridor investment on the South, Southwest and West sides. Grant awards exceeding $250,000 require City Council approval.
