PATERSON, NJ - Congresswoman Nellie Pou (D-NJ-09) today welcomes the draft peace agreement that may pave the way to an end to hostilities in Gaza and the release of all the hostages held by Hamas and of the bodies of Israelis murdered by Hamas on October 7, 2023.
"For the last two years, the Middle East has been plunged into darkness. Today's peace agreement represents that light may finally be on the horizon," said Congresswoman Pou. "The end of this war would be a blessed event for the people of Gaza and Israel. For the millions of Americans and others across the world who have sought a ceasefire, this should be a welcome day of great relief. Yet if the hostages are released and hostilities halt, this must be just the first step. More humanitarian aid must now flow unhindered into Gaza without delay. The rebuilding of Gaza must commence with the support of the free world and our regional partners, Hamas must be removed from any leadership role in the region, and we must commit fully to the existence of two states, living side by side. But an end to this war means we can now look forward to those hopefully better days."
