West Highway 4 Resurfacing and Roadway Improvements Underway

Construction is underway on the West Highway 4 Resurfacing and Roadway Improvements Project, which will address several issues with the existing road base and asphalt, resurface 13 miles of the roadway, and improve overall driving conditions on Highway 4.

C.W. Roberts Contracting, Inc. began construction on the project on Monday, Oct. 19. In an effort to minimize the disruption to drivers, C.W. Roberts plans to perform work in 2-3 mile segments until all 13 miles have been completed.

Work will include:

  • Asphalt milling operations to remove excess asphalt and provide smooth transitions to crossroads and driveways
  • Addressing cracking of the old asphalt layer
  • Correcting any remaining issues with the base layer in order to improve the longevity of the new asphalt
  • Placing an initial asphalt leveling layer, which will correct the road slope and improve roadway drainage
  • Placing a final asphalt layer once the initial improvements are completed
  • Installing new guardrails to replace sections of deteriorated guardrails
The public's patience is appreciated as construction continues on this project, which is expected to be completed by spring 2027, weather and construction coordination permitting.
