Netflix Releases Trailer And Premiere Date For Elize: Shadows Of A Woman, Starring Lorena Comparato

São Paulo, July 8, 2026 - A well-known case seen through a new fictional lens. Today, Netflix released the trailer for Elize: Shadows of a Woman , premiering on July 22 . Starring Lorena Comparato, the feature film from acclaimed author and screenwriter Raphael Montes ( Good Morning, Verônica ) in collaboration with Mariana Torres ( Good Morning, Verônica Season 3), is inspired by the real-life case of Elize Matsunaga, who murdered and dismembered her husband in the couple's apartment, shocking all of Brazil. In a way that only fiction can, this dramatic psychological thriller, directed by Felipe Vellas ( Criminal Code ) explores Elize's story, the inner workings of a turbulent relationship and the choices that led to a horrifying crime. The cast also includes Henrique Kimura, Miwa Yanagizawa, Julia Shimura and Denise Weinberg. "This is not just a movie about a crime. The aim was to tell a story that would also make people think. We wanted to open up a conversation about violence - what led Elize to commit such a brutal act?" said Montes. "We wanted to show this woman's duality. It's a story people can relate to in many ways, but unfortunately with the worst possible outcome," adds Torres. Produced by Boutique Filmes, the production company behind the true crime documentary series Elize Matsunaga: Once Upon a Crime , also available on Netflix, the film is produced by Gustavo Mello, with executive production by Renata Artigas, Marcelo Máximo, and Adriana Gaspar, and also features Raphael Montes as an associate producer.
