AbbVie has been approved to participate in the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Office of Pharmacy Affairs (OPA) 340B Rebate Model Pilot Program.
Beginning January 1, 2027, covered entities will submit claims to obtain 340B pricing through Beacon, the technology platform supporting implementation of the rebate model, on 340B-eligible dispenses of three AbbVie medicines: IMBRUVICA®, LINZESS® and VRAYLAR®. AbbVie will provide covered entities with access to Beacon, along with technical assistance, customer service and educational resources, at no cost.
In recognition that organizations may face different operational circumstances, AbbVie will also provide individualized support and consider hardship accommodations to help facilitate a successful transition.
The rebate model pilot is a positive step toward strengthening accountability and addressing longstanding concerns within the 340B program. A well-designed rebate model is an essential tool to enhance program integrity by improving pricing transparency, preventing duplicate discounts and handling complexities introduced by Medicare-negotiated drug prices.
As the pilot is implemented, AbbVie welcomes close collaboration with HRSA, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, covered entities and other key stakeholders to support a successful rollout and evaluate its potential to further strengthen the program.
