U.S. Department of Agriculture Cuts Ribbon at Cleveland County Charter School

A $15 Million Loan from Rural Development Will Fund Pinnacle Charter School Expansion

(Shelby, N.C., April 10, 2026) - U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development's State Director Robert Hosford celebrated the investment of $15 million with a ribbon cutting at Pinnacle Charter School in Shelby today.

The funding, provided through a USDA Community Facilities Loan, supported construction of a new academic building serving grades K-12. The expansion will allow the school to meet growing enrollment demand while enhancing classroom capacity and modernizing instructional space.

"The Cleveland County area is a rapidly growing area here in North Carolina," Hosford said. "Through USDA's Community Facilities Loan Program we are providing an education facility that will provide the latest technology to assist these fantastic educators."

The new building will feature:

  • Classrooms
  • A Gymnasium that will also function as a multi-purpose space
  • Locker rooms

The USDA Community Facilities Loan and Grant Program provides affordable financing to develop essential community facilities in rural areas, including schools, public safety facilities, health care centers and other critical infrastructure.

USDA Rural Development provides loans, grants and technical assistance to support economic development, infrastructure, and quality-of-life improvements in rural communities across North Carolina and the nation.
