Norton Rose Fulbright advises Stanmore on US$450 million refinancing

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has advised Stanmore Resources Limited (ASX: SMR), one of Australia's largest producers of metallurgical coal, on the US$450 million refinancing of its bank debt facilities.

Norton Rose Fulbright is the long-standing debt finance legal counsel to Stanmore, and advised on the structuring, negotiation and execution of its recent refinancing. The team was involved in all aspects of the transaction, including helping to co-ordinate engagement with continuing, new and outgoing lenders to successfully achieve financial close.

The refinancing reflects the depth of market support for Stanmore, from both existing and new financiers, and provides the company with an enhanced debt funding platform.

The transaction demonstrates the continued evolution and maturation of Stanmore's business, with the company's operational credibility, strong balance sheet and focused commodity exposure providing the platform for strong support from the debt market.

Norton Rose Fulbright's team was led by partner Alen Pazin, who commented:

"We are extremely pleased to have supported Stanmore on the refinancing of its US$450 million debt facilities. As long-term advisors to Stanmore, we have been involved in the creation and on-going development of its financing structure over a long period of time and are honoured to have assisted the company in delivering a successful commercial outcome. This speaks volumes for the strength of the company's business and management team."

Alen was supported by special counsel Jessica Jenke, senior associate Kellie Hayman and lawyer Frances Mazzarolo.

Stanmore's team was led by Chief Financial Officer Shane Young, who commented:

"The successful refinancing reinforces Stanmore's depth of access to debt markets, underpinned by our unique position as pure-play metallurgical coal producer with a strong operational track record and solid balance sheet. We are pleased to have strengthened our relationships with existing financiers, while also establishing important new relationships to further our reach for future transactions. It has been a pleasure to work with the Norton Rose Fulbright team, with their deep understanding of our financing structure and business providing the platform for a seamless and successful transaction."

Shane was supported by treasurer Robert Fairhurst, senior treasury analyst Corey Davies and senior legal counsel David Campbell.
