Gov. Lee proclaims May 3-9 Correctional Professionals’ Week

Nashville, Tenn. - Governor Bill Lee has proclaimed May 3-9, 2026, as Correctional Professionals' Week in Tennessee.

Correctional Professionals' Week, observed each year during the first full week of May, honors the dedicated men and women who serve in prisons, jails, community supervision offices, day reporting centers, and in other critical roles throughout Tennessee.

This week, we recognize not only their vital contributions to public safety but also the meaningful impact they have on individuals, families, and communities in the State of Tennessee.

"Correctional professionals work every day to maintain safe and secure facilities, support rehabilitation, and help prepare individuals for successful reentry, said Commissioner Frank Strada. "Across Tennessee, thousands of men and women serve our state with dedication, integrity, and a deep commitment to public safety. They play a key role in breaking cycles of recidivism and strengthening families and communities."

The Tennessee Department of Correction is proud to recognize the nearly 6,000 correctional professionals who serve across the state, working each day to protect Tennessee's communities while supporting successful reentry.
