On Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 8:30 a.m., RNeighbors, in partnership with Rochester Parks & Recreation and other community organizations, invites community members of all ages and backgrounds to join the Fall 2025 RNeighborWoods Community Tree Planting. This hands-on effort to grow Rochester's urban forest will take place in the Northgate Park neighborhood, 2107 24th Street NW.
"No experience is needed," said René Halasy, Executive Director of RNeighbors. "We provide everything, including a short training video, to make sure trees are planted properly and will thrive for years to come."
Since 2004, nearly 8,000 volunteers have helped plant around 9,000 boulevard trees across Rochester through community events, citizen forester trainings and neighborhood grants.
"These trees provide real benefits to our City," said Alison Litchy, Rochester Parks & Recreation Forestry Supervisor. "Our urban forest helps lower the City's carbon footprint, removes over 33,000 pounds of pollutants from the air each year and contributes more than $700,000 in annual stormwater benefits. Volunteers are essential to continuing this legacy."
