WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) partnered with Sen. Alex Padilla (D-Calif.) to require the U.S. Postal Service designate a single, unique ZIP code for 75 specific communities across the country.
After years of work to deliver certainty for Urbandale residents, Ernst brought together multiple proposals for new ZIP codes into one bipartisan bill that would end confusing mail delays and delivery issues faced by cities throughout the nation.
"It's frankly unacceptable that residents of Urbandale and other cities across the nation have dealt with delayed and misdirected mail for years because of ongoing disputes over ZIP code boundaries," said Senator Ernst. "All Americans deserve timely and efficient mail service, and by bringing together numerous proposals representing impacted communities across the country, I know we can finally seal the deal. It's time this issue is fully addressed so Iowans can rest assured that their mail is being delivered accurately.
