New Brunswick Hosts Sister City Student Delegation from Hungary

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (June 9, 2026) - A student delegation from Debrecen, Hungary, was welcomed to City Hall last week by Mayor Jim Cahill, marking the latest exchange in a long-standing international partnership.

The visiting Hungarian students were joined at the reception by peers and staff from the Blanquita B. Valenti Community School, as well as New Brunswick Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Aubrey Johnson.

The meeting is part of the New Brunswick Sister Cities Program, which established an official twinning agreement with Debrecen in May 1990 to promote cultural, educational, and commercial exchanges. The initiative regularly coordinates reciprocal travel and municipal hosting to foster global friendships and broaden local students' horizons.
