KOKOMO, Ind. - Enjoy a walk on the beautiful Indiana University Kokomo campus and support a great cause by participating in the annual Angel Walk on Tuesday, September 30.
The event, a fundraiser for the Family Service Association of Howard County's (FSA) domestic violence shelter, begins with a rally at 5:30 p.m. in the Kelley Student Center, 2300 S. Washington Street, followed by a one-mile walk at approximately 6 p.m.
"This event is important because unfortunately, domestic violence happens all around us," said Amanda Bradley, student life specialist. "It can be easy to think this is something that only happens in movies, or to a friend of a friend of a friend. Being aware of the signs and supporting those who are experiencing domestic violence and knowing where to find resources is incredibly important."
Hosting the event, in its 21st year, also highlights the work done by the FSA of Howard County, Bradley said.
"We want to support those in our community who provide such valuable assistance, and being able to do so is an honor," she said.
The rally will include a proclamation from Kokomo mayor Tyler Moore, as well as multiple speakers. T-shirts will be available for participants while supplies last.
Students who want to participate in fundraising, either by themselves or with a team, can email [email protected] or call (765) 455-9586 for more information. Money raised can be turned in the night of the event. Community members may contact the FSA at [email protected] or call (765) 434-4263.
