The Wentworth Institute of Technology community gathered on November 13 for its 18th Annual Veteran's Celebration, honoring those who have served in the United States Armed Forces. The event featured a speaking program in the CEIS Lobby followed by a flag-raising ceremony on the front lawn.

President Mark Thompson led the ceremony, welcoming attendees and expressing "profound gratitude" to veterans for their service and sacrifice.

"On behalf of all of us at Wentworth Institute of Technology, I extend a heartfelt thank you to U.S. military veterans everywhere, and especially to the hundreds who have chosen to be part of the Wentworth family," Thompson said. He invited current students, faculty, staff, and alumni who served in the military to stand and be recognized by the community.

Thompson highlighted the university's commitment to supporting veterans in achieving their educational and professional goals.

"We are dedicated to ensuring that every veteran at Wentworth has access to a high quality, hands-on education-one that opens the door to meaningful career opportunities and lifelong success that they so richly deserve," he stated.

Thompson acknowledged that many veteran students take nontraditional paths, often balancing full-time jobs and family responsibilities. "No matter the path, our mission is the same: to support you with respect, understanding and purpose," he said. "We are honored that you have chosen Wentworth, and we remain deeply committed to your success."

The event also recognized corporate partners who support Wentworth's military-connected students, including the event's Three Star Sponsor, Commodore Builders. President Thompson thanked Commodore CEO Tom Comeau, a Wentworth alumnus from the Class of 1990 and a member of the Board of Trustees, who was in attendance with members of his company.

Following the speaking program, guests adjourned to the front lawn for the flag-raising ceremony. The university extended its thanks to the Northeastern University ROTC program, the Colleges of the Fenway Orchestra, and the University Events team for their contributions to the celebration.
