Entergy Mississippi prepared for storms as the height of 2026 hurricane season approaches

JACKSON, Miss. - As the height of the hurricane season approaches, Entergy Mississippi is prepared for summer storms, including hurricanes, and encourages customers to prepare as well. Scientists anticipate the 2026 hurricane season will have somewhat below-normal activity, with nine named storms expected, including four hurricanes - one of which could become a major hurricane. Regardless of how the season unfolds, we are ready - and we want customers to be ready, too.

"Our teams work year-round to strengthen our systems, train our crews and enhance our emergency response plans so we can restore power quickly and safely after storms impact our communities."

To enhance the reliability of our energy grid, Entergy continues to invest in infrastructure improvements, including upgrading existing systems, implementing vegetation management, and deploying smart grid technologies. These efforts aim to minimize storm-related outages and ensure reliable service, while keeping customer costs as low as possible.

Prepared for hurricane season

We take a proactive, year-round approach to storm readiness. Ahead of the 2026 summer storm season, Entergy Mississippi completed a series of actions to strengthen our preparedness, including:

• Inspecting utility poles regularly and replace damaged or broken poles when necessary
• Inspecting transmission lines, facilities and power plants in preparation for extreme weather conditions
• Working proactive maintenance plans throughout the year
• Completing additional vegetation trimming to reduce tree-related outages
• Reviewing emergency response plans and positioning crews and equipment

Employees also took part in staging center training, logistics and resource management exercises and a companywide hurricane drill that simulated a major storm making landfall. These sessions help reinforce consistent procedures, improve coordination across teams and ensure our workforce is fully prepared before severe weather arrives.

Customers should take steps to prepare their homes and families for potential hurricane impacts. Entergy's Storm Center website provides guidance on building an emergency plan, assembling a disaster supply kit and safely operating backup generators. Customers are also encouraged to download the Entergy mobile app and sign up for outage text alerts to stay informed during severe weather.
