Washington, D.C. - Today, Congressman Bennie G. Thompson (MS-02) issued the following statement on his re-election to an 18th term in the U.S. House of Representatives: "I am deeply grateful to the people of Mississippi's Second Congressional District for once again placing their faith and trust in me to represent them in Congress for an 18th term. I do not take that responsibility lightly, and my commitment to standing up for your interests and ensuring that the voices of Mississippians are heard in Washington remains unchanged. "As I return to the 120th Congress, I look forward to the opportunity to serve as Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee and to hold the Trump Administration accountable, while continuing to advocate for the needs of our district and address the challenges facing our nation.
