Road to 10,000 Annual Report Marks First-Year Progress

Greensboro's drive to expand housing options is building momentum, with more than 3,200 homes completed or permitted in the first year of the Road to 10,000 initiative, according to the City's newly released annual report.

The publication is available online and details Greensboro's effort to develop 10,000 new housing units by 2030 from the initiative's launch in February 2025 through June 2026.

In the initial year, City leaders and community partners collaborated to develop a comprehensive policy framework and expand community engagement. The report highlights an online dashboard, plus partnerships with agencies such as the Urban Land Institute, the Greensboro Realtors Association, and the Piedmont Triad Regional Council.

"The initiative's first year demonstrated the value of a coordinated, data-driven approach to addressing housing challenges," said City Manager Nathaniel "Trey" Davis. "While additional work remains, the Road to 10,000 has established a solid foundation for increasing housing opportunities, supporting economic competitiveness, and strengthening Greensboro neighborhoods."
