Temporary restriction on Slipper Lake Public Use Site

NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC AND REQUEST FOR INFORMATION

PRJ 234832

Subject to AS 38.05.035(a)(7), the Southcentral Regional Land Office proposes the following: PROJECT NAME: PRJ 234832 GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: State owned land within Jonesville Public Use Area and the Matanuska Valley Moose Range, more specifically within a portion of the Slipper Lake Public Use Site as defined on the attached map.

LEGAL DESCRIPTION: Seward Meridian, Township 19 North, Range 3 East, Sections 16 and 21 containing 694 acres, more or less.

REQUESTED ACTIVITY: Due to safety concerns during cleanup activities, the Southcentral Regional Land Office is considering a temporary restriction on the discharge of weapons within a portion of the Slipper Lake Public Use Site, as shown on the attached map. The temporary closure is proposed for Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., during which no weapons discharge will be permitted within the defined area to ensure a safe cleanup.

PROPOSED DATES OF USE:

Start: May 16th, 2026 from 9:00 am

End: May 16th, 2026 until 3:00 pm

DEADLINE FOR COMMENTS: May 8th, 2026

The public is invited to comment on this activity. The purpose of this notice is to gather input before a decision is made on this activity. To ensure consideration, written comments must be received by the Division of Mining, Land and Water at the Southcentral Regional Land Office, 550 W. 7th Ave., Suite 900C, Anchorage, AK 99501-3577 on or before 5:00 PM on the date noted above. After review and adjudication, we may issue an authorization with stipulations for the activity. The activity may be modified during the review and adjudication process.
