PANGKALPINANG -- Blood donation was one of the activities held in celebration of PT Timah Tbk's 49th anniversary, which carried the theme "For the Red and White." This social action took place at eight of the company's operational areas.
The blood donation drive, part of the 49th Anniversary Service Month of PT Timah, was carried out in Kundur, Jakarta, Belitung, Belinyu, Toboali, Sungailiat, Mentok, and Pangkalpinang, successfully collecting 1,096 blood bags.
In collaboration with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) in the company's operational areas, the blood drive was warmly welcomed by both the community and employees. Dozens to hundreds of blood bags were collected at each location. In fact, the blood donation activity was also held alongside PT Timah's Healthy Week.
Head of the Blood Donor Unit in Pangkalpinang, Dr. Amelia, said that the blood donation carried out by PT Timah in Pangkalpinang was enthusiastically received by the public. From two sessions held together with PT Timah, a total of 549 blood bags were collected.
"The enthusiasm for blood donation on the first and second day was quite high. Right now, people's awareness of blood donation is very good because they can feel the many benefits of donating blood. With activities like this, the enthusiasm to donate keeps improving," she said.
She also appreciated PT Timah Tbk for routinely holding blood donations as part of its anniversary celebration. Going forward, she hopes the blood drive can be held regularly, especially since the demand for blood continues to rise.
"PMI Pangkalpinang not only meets the demand for blood in Pangkalpinang but also for the surrounding regions, and requests for blood are continuously increasing. We hope PT Timah will continue to work together to hold blood donations, perhaps every three months, so that the blood supply needs can be met," she added.
Previously, PMI Pangkalpinang had presented an award to PT Timah as a partner in fulfilling blood supply needs.
One of the donors at the Pangkalpinang event, Boy Yandra, said he has donated blood 123 times and has experienced many health benefits from doing so.
"I happened to be scheduled to donate, so since PT Timah was holding this event, I decided to donate here because I am already a regular donor. Besides helping others, there are many health benefits from donating blood, such as feeling more energetic, improving blood circulation, and creating a sense of happiness," he said after donating.
He also expressed his appreciation to PT Timah for consistently holding blood donations in its operational areas to help fulfill blood supply needs.
"Hopefully PT Timah will continue to thrive and routinely hold these blood drives so that more people become educated and encouraged to donate blood," he concluded.
