City of Columbia to host Let's Talk Local discussion with mayor

(COLUMBIA, MO) - The City of Columbia is hosting the monthly Let's Talk Local discussion from 5:30-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15 at Missouri United Methodist Church, 204 S. Ninth St. This month's discussion will feature Mayor Barbara Buffaloe and will focus on the City's newly adopted Fiscal Year 2026 budget, which went into effect Oct. 1. City staff will present highlights from the budget and be available to answer community questions. The Fiscal Year 2026 budget can be found at CoMo.gov/finance/accounting/financial-reports/.If there are specific topics or questions community members would like to be addressed, they can be shared on BeHeard.CoMo.gov/ask-city-council. Council members and City staff will try to answer these as time allows at the meeting. Answers will also be posted on BeHeard.While the event will be hosted at Missouri United Methodist Church, the organization's parking lot is reserved for a separate event. Instead, residents are encouraged to use the Tenth and Cherry Parking Garage, 1000 Cherry St. Parking is free for the first hour in City parking garages and free after 6 p.m.These meetings are open to all residents from any ward. Refreshments will be provided. Attendees are asked to register at the following link: https://forms.gle/MCwDgUNrHcxVM2po8. Residents can find which ward they reside in at CoMo.gov/boards/city-council/wards-map/.A second Let's Talk Local discussion will be held later in October with Ward 2 Council Member Vera Elwood. Additional details on this session will be shared once available.
