HONOLULU - The Hawai'i Department of Transportation (HDOT) is notifying motorists of upcoming closures on Kualaka'i Parkway in Kapolei on the evening of Tuesday, Oct. 13 from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. the following day. The closures are needed for the City and County of Honolulu's Department of Transportation Services to conduct a safety exercise.
To support this exercise, crews will close lanes on Kualaka'i Parkway in both directions between the University of Hawai'i West O'ahu Skyline Station and the East Kapolei Skyline Station.
From 10 p.m. on the evening of Tuesday, Oct. 13, the far-right lane and shoulder on northbound Kualaka'i Parkway will be closed until 2 a.m. Concurrently, on southbound Kualaka'i Parkway, the two far-right lanes will be closed. All closures will be from the intersection of Ho'omohala Avenue to approximately halfway before the intersection with Farrington Highway.
Ho'omohala Avenue west of Kualaka'i Parkway will also be closed during this exercise. Activities will involve coordinated mock emergency response scenarios with all primary first responder organizations, requiring active maintenance of traffic and parking management during these hours.
Variable message boards will be posted along Kualaka'i Parkway to alert road users. Please note, all work is weather permitting and is subject to change per these conditions.
