What you need to know: The Department of Motor Vehicles' (DMV) Palm Desert office will close temporarily on September 18 at 5 p.m. However, most customers do not have to visit an office and can do their DMV business online at dmv.ca.gov.
Sacramento - The California DMV today announced that the Palm Desert office at 74-740 Technology Drive will close temporarily for interior painting beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, September 18. The office is scheduled to reopen at 8 a.m. on Monday, September 28.

Before Going to a DMV Office - Try Online First
Most DMV tasks do not require an office visit. The DMV encourages customers to use its online services and other service channels to complete transactions, such as eligible driver's license and vehicle registration renewals. Customers can also use the Service Advisor on the DMV website to learn about options to complete DMV tasks.
Go Paperless - To sign up for paperless vehicle registration and driver's license renewal notices, sign in or create a secure online account at dmv.ca.gov to opt in.
