William Hooper has been appointed interim director of Facilities Management at Southeast Missouri State University, effective March 23.
Hooper began his career with The Boeing Company in 2001 where he advanced from a facility analyst to strategic planning and engineering manager. Most recently, he has served as associate vice chancellor of facilities services at Washington State University Vancouver and as interim associate vice president for facilities services at Bryn Mawr College.
He has a Bachelor of Science in industrial education from University of Wisconsin-Stout and a Master of Aeronautical Science, Management, from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. Hooper holds certifications from the Real Property Administrator, Building Owners and Managers Association; the Facilities Management Administrator, Building Owners and Managers Association; and is a Certified Plant Engineer with the Association for Facilities Engineering.
Hooper comes to SEMO through The Registry, a service of the Council of Independent Colleges, and the premier interim placement firm in American higher education. The organization's goal is to engage senior administrators and executives who help institutions to define, shape, and achieve a more resilient and sustainable future.
The appointment follows the resignation of current Facilities Management Director Angela Meyer who will leave the University March 31.
"I am thankful to Angela for her many years of service to SEMO. I appreciate her leadership of the FM team through a variety of projects and facilities challenges. I am pleased that she can work with Bill for a few weeks to ensure a smooth transition," said Dr. Brad Hodson, president of Southeast Missouri State University. "We look forward to Bill joining SEMO and the many years of extensive experience he brings to delivering facility services and leading capital projects."
Hooper will serve in the interim appointment until a search to fill the position is complete.
