COLUMBIA, S.C. - U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C.) today released the following statement celebrating the opening day of the South Carolina State Fair:

"The South Carolina State Fair celebrates so much of what makes South Carolina special, from our rich agricultural history and local arts to delicious food and southern hospitality. Nobody does it better than South Carolina," said Sen. Scott. "I could not be prouder of the fair for creating memories for generations of South Carolinians but also for the opportunities it has provided by blessing students across our state with nearly $6.5 million in scholarships since 1997. I hope folks take some time to enjoy this beloved tradition and celebrate what makes the Palmetto State so great: our community, and yes, our food too."
