Undersecretary Tripodi opens 15th Italy–US Joint Commission on Science and Technology Cooperation in Washington D.C.

Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Maria Tripodi, today inaugurated the 15th Italy-United States Joint Commission on Science and Technology Cooperation (Joint Commission Meeting - JCM) in Washington D.C., as part of her official visit to the United States.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Italy and the United States signed a Joint Statement aimed at further strengthening strategic collaboration in highly innovative sectors, a central pillar of the bilateral partnership. "The objective is to consolidate global leadership in cutting-edge technologies and the most advanced innovation sectors," Tripodi stated. "In a context of increasing global competition, collaboration among Western countries is not merely desirable but indispensable," the Undersecretary added.

During the meeting, she also announced that Italy will more than double its funding for new joint research projects, in order to foster technology transfer, talent mobility and shared research infrastructure. Finally, Tripodi highlighted the contribution of over 15,000 Italian researchers active in the United States, representing Italian excellence globally.
