UNION CITY, CA, September 22, 2025 - The City of Union City is proud to announce the completion of the Union City Boulevard Bike Lanes Project! A ribbon cutting celebration will take place this coming Saturday, September 27, 2025 from 10:00 AM-2:00 PM, at Delaine Eastin Elementary School (34901 Eastin Drive).
Spanning approximately 2.4 miles, from Smith Street to the southern City limits, the Union City Boulevard Bike Lanes Project marks a major milestone in the City's commitment to safer, more accessible, and sustainable transportation. Key improvements include:
These enhancements are designed to improve safety for cyclists, pedestrians, and drivers, while strengthening connections to local parks, schools, neighborhoods, and the regional trail network - making it easier and safer for residents to choose greener travel options.
Celebrate With Us!
Whether you ride a bike, walk, skate, scoot, or roll, join neighbors for a fun, family-friendly event celebrating Union City's continued investment in active transportation and safe streets.
To kick off the event, join City leaders, project partners, and neighbors as we officially open the new bike lanes with a ribbon cutting ceremony, followed by a one-mile community ride/walk.
Remember to bring your bike, skateboard, scooter, roller skates, or just your walking shoes, for a fun ride or stroll along the new corridor. Union City Boulevard will be closed to all vehicular traffic between Rocklin Drive and Dyer Street.
Also visit the community booths to learn more about City programs, and to receive free information and resources.
From live music to a pop-up traffic garden for kids, there's something for everyone to enjoy!

Road Closures & Detours
To ensure a safe and enjoyable event, the following roads will be closed on Saturday, September 27 as early as 5:00 AM and may not reopen until 5:00 PM:
Please allow extra travel time and follow posted detour signs.
