Lane at East Lindsey to close on 8/17/26 for water tower work

August 14, 2026

The eastbound southmost lane of E Lindsey Street will soon be closed to traffic near the Lindsey Water Tower west of the railroad tracks to allow for safe recoating of the tower. This closure is generally between George Avenue and Classen Boulevard. The closure will begin on Monday, 8/17/2026, and is expected to remain in place for approximately 90 days weather permitting.

During this time, the lane will be closed when work is ongoing but the traffic control signage will be moved back when work is paused for an extended period of time. The City will aim to accommodate traffic for significant community events and OU home games throughout the duration of this project.

Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes and follow all posted traffic control signage in the area.

The City of Norman appreciates your patience and cooperation as this work is completed.

Questions can be directed to the Utilities Department at (405) 366-5443.
