The American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) is inviting participants and media to a panel, "Feeding the Future: Climate-Smart Strategies for a Sustainable Global Feed Industry," on Nov. 15 at 2 p.m. GMT-3 at the 30th Conference of Parties (COP30), being held in Belem, Brazil. In collaboration with industry partners Sindirações and the International Feed Industry Federation, the first-of-its-kind panel will be held in the inaugural AgriZone (Auditorium A4) and will discuss the importance of the feed industry to animal health, identify promising innovations, highlight feed efficiency and explore how the industry works with government and key international bodies to bring forward climate solutions.

"The 'Feeding the Future' panel is an exciting way to be represented at COP30," said Mallory Gaines, AFIA's director of global affairs. "Animal feed is a sustainable solution that supports the animal protein sector in achieving its climate-smart goals. The efficiency provided by high quality feed ingredients in a nutritionally balanced diet is a primary step in reducing animal agriculture's climate impact."

The AgriZone is a new sustainable agriculture showcase sponsored by Embrapa, the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation, hosting around 400 free events during COP30 from Nov. 10-21. AFIA's panel will convene global feed industry leaders to examine the sector's pivotal role in supporting the sustainability and climate goals of livestock systems worldwide.

The panelists will address innovation adaptation, policy dynamics, incentives and cross-border collaboration that can help promote feed systems to support a more efficient animal protein sector that can feed a growing population through safe, wholesome, nutrient dense meat, milk, eggs and fish. Key takeaways will be captured to inform industry dialogue, guide future research and development priorities, and support climate action across livestock value chains.

Gaines will also speak on the panel, "From pasture to plate: Continuous improvement practices, progress, and pathways in animal agriculture," on Nov. 12 at 12 p.m. GMT-3 in the Action on Food Hub Pavilion.
