On 21 February, Consul General Chen Shijie attended the 7th Feng Yunke (Keke) Literary Award Ceremony hosted by the New Zealand Chinese Writers Association, presented the First Prize to Mr. Nie Mao, and delivered remarks. More than 100 Chinese-language writers and representatives from various sectors in the consular district participated in the event.
In his speech, Chen paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Ms. Feng Yunke, commending her lifelong dedication to literary creation and cultural exchange, and extended warm congratulations to all the award winners. He noted that 2026 marks the first year of the 15th Five-Year Plan. Symbolizing galloping progress and forging ahead, the Year of the Horse inspires us to strive for excellence. The Consulate-General will continue to actively support cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and New Zealand, encouraging Chinese writers to promote Chinese culture, express the sentiments of the Chinese community, and tell compelling stories of China-New Zealand friendship through their writing, thereby infusing more warmth and strength into the people-to-people bonds between the two nations.
This literary award, established in 2020 in accordance with the last wishes of Ms. Feng Yunke (pen name Keke), former president of the New Zealand Chinese Writers Association. A total of 10 winners were selected this year.
