Port Clinton City Schools Hosts Drive a Bus Day!

Have you ever wondered what it's like to drive a school bus? Well, you now have an opportunity to find out! Port Clinton City School District is hosting Drive a Bus Day on Saturday, May 30 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Port Clinton Middle School parking lot, 807 S. Jefferson Street in Port Clinton.

"Driving a school bus is a great career or part-time job and we want everyone to come and experience what it is like. The vehicle the size of a school bus may seem intimidating, but we want to show that there is nothing to be afraid of and a bus is very easy to maneuver" said Brenda Janes, Port Clinton Schools Transportation Supervisor. She added, "As many know there is a nation wide shortage of bus drivers, and we are experiencing the same locally. Port Clinton City Schools helps interested candidates earn the necessary qualifications." This event will also share the steps to certification.

To test drive a school bus, drivers must be at least 21 years of age and have a clean driving record. Job applicants must also pass an FBI/BCI background check.
