September 15, 2025

The City of Omaha will celebrate local hero Terence "Bud" Crawford after his history-making boxing victory Saturday night at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In beating Canelo Alvarez, Crawford became the first male fighter to be the undisputed champion in three weight classes in the four-belt era. He remains undefeated. The fight drew a record stadium crowd and was streamed to a global audience of millions on Netflix.

Omaha Mayor John W. Ewing, Jr., called Crawford a hometown hero and said the city plans to give him a hero's celebration. Details are still being worked out and will be announced as soon as they are ready.

"Omaha is so proud of Bud," Ewing said. "We want to show support for him and what he's done for our city - not just representing Omaha but also sharing his success with the community and investing in young people."
