Undersecretary for North America Cristina Planter Concludes Visit to Washington to Advance Bilateral Dialogue and Cooperation
  • The agenda included meetings with officials from the White House, the State Department, and the Department of Homeland Security to advance the main items on the bilateral agenda.

Undersecretary for North America Cristina Planter Riebeling traveled to Washington, D.C. last week to strengthen dialogue and cooperation and advance the main items on the bilateral agenda.

During the visit, she met with Michael Kozak, Frank Cartwright Weiland, and Caleb Orr of the State Department; Patrick Nelson of the White House National Security Council; Rob Law of the Department of Homeland Security; and Debbie Seguin of the Office of National Drug Control Policy. The meetings provided an opportunity to review progress on the bilateral agenda and find new avenues to further strengthen cooperation between the two governments through dialogue, coordination, and mutual respect.

The Undersecretary visited the Consular Section of the Mexican Embassy in the United States and met with civil society organizations and community leaders to strengthen collaboration with Mexico's consular network. She also held meetings with U.S. Senate advisors, private sector representatives, and think tanks to discuss North American economic integration and regional cooperation, including engagements with the U.S.-Mexico Foundation (USMF), the Meridian International Center, Americas Society/Council of the Americas (AS/COA), the Atlantic Council, and the Inter-American Dialogue's Mexico Program.

The visit reaffirms the Foreign Ministry's commitment to keeping open active channels with key U.S. interlocutors and continuing to advance a bilateral relationship based on dialogue, mutual respect, trust, and shared responsibility.
