How Reba McEntire Continues To Celebrate The 25th Anniversary Of Beloved 'Reba' Show

Reba McEntire continues to celebrate the 25th anniversary of her beloved sitcom's premiere, and her unmatched 50-year career in music.

McEntire, 71, starred as the title character in Reba, a comedy that premiered on October 5, 2001. The country megastar played Reba Hart, a single mother of three navigating life after divorce in the suburbs of Houston, Texas. The cast also included Melissa Peterman, Christopher Rich, Steve Howey, JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Scarlett Pomers and Mitch Holleman. The series finale aired on February 18, 2007.

The 25th anniversary of Reba arrives as McEntire continues to celebrate five decades as an artist. McEntire has been releasing capsules of music each month since April, including One Night In Tulsa, Hurt Like That, Ain't Gonna Keep It Waiting', Ring Ring, Tourist and Could Have Been Raining. McEntire delivered her seventh capsule on Wednesday (October 28), I'm A Survivor. The anthem served her 2000s sitcom's iconic theme song, and appeared on Greatest Hits, Volume III: I'm A Survivor in 2001. Phillip White and Shelby Kennedy teamed up to write "I'm A Survivor," which was produced by McEntire and Tony Brown, according to a press release issued Wednesday.

"Thankful you all welcomed the Hart family into your lives and for all the memories this show brought us!" McEntire wrote in a caption on Instagram when she celebrated Reba's 25th anniversary on October 5. Peterman, who spoke about Reba and her beloved character on an episode of The BobbyCast earlier this year, exclaimed in a post of her own, "I can't believe it's been 25 YEARS!! I am having all the feels....I'm sure some are age-related But I'm so grateful I got to barge into your living rooms 25 years ago. ❤️"

Peterman and McEntire have since reconnected on Happy's Place, which kicked of fits third season on October 23. The NBC comedy also stars McEntire's real-life fiancéRex Linn, plus Belissa Escobedo, Pablo Castelblanco and Tokala Black Elk. Reba cast members Howey, Rich and Garcia Swisher have appeared as guest stars on the show. McEntire shared with iHeartCountry in an interview last year that "the writing" is the key to a successful sitcom. "It is very important to have heart in there. You gotta laugh, but you gotta cry. You've got to hit all of those emotions."
