From navigating the wilderness without technology to mastering practical knot-tying skills, these programs offer engaging experiences for all ages.
Learning knots has never been so fun! Kids will explore how knots are used in outdoor adventures, creative problem-solving, and everyday life. Participants will learn to tie several useful and impressive knots, practice their new skills, and finish the program by creating a paracord bracelet to wear home with pride. Adults must accompany children; accompanying adults attend free and do not need to register.
Location: Thomas G. Crowder Woodland Center
Dates and Times: Saturday, Jan. 17 (9 - 11 a.m.) and Sunday, March 8 (1 - 3 p.m.)

Ready to unplug and try something new? Orienteering 101 offers adults the chance to step off the beaten path and into the woods of Lake Johnson Park with nothing but a map and a compass. This beginner-friendly course introduces the basics of navigation-reading a compass, taking bearings, and understanding topographic maps-so you can feel confident exploring without relying on your phone or GPS. No experience is needed, just a sense of curiosity and adventure. Advanced registration is required.
