The White Plains Youth Climate Action Fund allows the City to fund micro-grants to rapidly launch and support youth-led climate initiatives. White Plains organizations that serve youth ages 15-24 applied for up to $5,000 for a project to help facilitate climate action within our city. This event is one of the brilliant ideas our young minds have produced to combat climate change and benefit our community through innovation in topics such as: the environment and natural resources, clean energy, reducing greenhouse gasses, and climate resilience/adaptation.
Enjoy this free public performance of the Hudson Ballet Theater (HBT). HBT is on a mission to enrich our community by providing accessible and high-quality dance performances for the White Plains area and the US. They serve our local community by providing excellence in dance training through a youth ballet program and through collaborative efforts with artistic narratives and local community members to create new and innovative dance works that honor the art of storytelling.
Lillian Smith the main choreographer and young performers tell the story of those most affected by climate change already being the most marginalized. The performance focuses on coal miners in the midlands in the 18th/19th and 20th centuries. They will use the artform of dance to emotionally connect to the audience, growing each individual's awareness and understanding of climate change as well as their personal desire to advocate and make changes for a healthier environment.
