USDA Rural Development Invests Nearly $50,000 to Fund Ambulance to Assist Rural Ashland and Douglas Counties

Investment Provides Critical Emergency Services for Over 1,175 People

(Stevens Point, Wis., April 15, 2026) - U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Wisconsin State Director Andrew C. Iverson has announced that the Glidden Area Ambulance Service, Inc., a non-profit organization, will receive $47,515 grant for its new ambulance.

"When seconds count, brave first responders answer the call to help others throughout rural Wisconsin. We can count on them to act swiftly and valiantly to help people receive expert medical care, and this investment supports their essential daily mission," said Iverson. "This investment is an example of the commitment of President Donald Trump and Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins to stand with first responders to ensure rural Wisconsinites have the emergency services they need."

Glidden Area Ambulance Service will use a $47,515 Community Facilities grant to purchase a new ambulance to replace its existing 1998 ambulance that had become costly to maintain. The new ambulance has modern safety features including safety restraints and light-emitting diode "LED" lighting. Glidden Area Ambulance Service provides emergency response services to Gordon, Jacobs, Peeksville, and Shanagolden townships, serving more than 1,175 people across approximately 285 square miles of rural Wisconsin including remote areas of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest.
