Cassidy Delivers New VA Clinic for Baton Rouge

WASHINGTON - Today, U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA), a member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs, announced that the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has awarded a lease for a new community-based outpatient clinic in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Cassidy played a critical role in securing this clinic through the Sergeant First Class (SFC) Heath Robinson Honoring our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act of 2022. When opened, the new clinic will benefit veterans in the Capital Region.

"This new clinic will help veterans in the Capital Region heal from the wounds of war," said Dr. Cassidy. "It helps honor the promise America makes to serve those who risked their lives for us."

When completed, the new clinic will have over 100,000 square feet of clinical space, and 600 parking spaces. The clinic will allow the VA to consolidate and expand upon the care provided at the Baton Rouge South and North Community-Based Outpatient Clinics. As of late December, the VA anticipates that the new clinic will be activated in the second quarter of Fiscal Year 2029.The PACT Act expanded VA health care and benefits for veterans who were exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange, and other toxic substances. It adds to the list of health conditions that the VA presumes are caused by exposure to those substances. As of the end of last year, over 3 million PACT Act claims were submitted nationwide, including over 60,000 in Louisiana.
