BISMARCK, N.D. - The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced the recipients of more than $11 million in grants for public health, early childhood education and workforce enhancement. A total of $11,012,412 will be distributed to six recipients as follows:

$5,210,000 to the North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services for the Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) Cooperative Agreement, enabling the state to better prepare for and recover from public health emergencies.

$2,175,900 to Bismarck Public Schools for Head Start and Early Head Start to support early childhood education and associated services for eligible children and families.

$1,355,906 to the Community Action Partnership in Dickinson and for Head Start Projects, in support of early childhood education and comprehensive services for eligible children and families.

$1,134,973 to the Community Action Region VI in Jamestown for Head Start Projects, in support of early childhood education and comprehensive services for eligible children and families.

$110,631 to Minot State University to improve the timely documentation, reporting, and analysis of diagnostic data through the CDC's DD20-2006 program.
Additionally, following a letter Senator Kevin Cramer, (R-ND) and the other members of North Dakota's Congressional Delegation sent to the Department of Health and Human Services in February 2024 supporting the project, the University of North Dakota (UND) was awarded $1,025,002 for the Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program. This award builds upon an earlier grant of $1,000,000 received in May 2024 and furthers the work being done at UND to strengthen the healthcare workforce serving older adults.
