AMEXCID and Tent Partnership for Refugees Strengthen Alliance to Help Refugees Find Employment
  • The two organizations signed a Memorandum of Understanding to cement their public-private partnership

The Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation (AMEXCID) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Tent Partnership for Refugees to help refugees in Mexico find work and achieve economic stability.

At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, AMEXCID Executive Director Alejandra Del Moral Vela led the meeting with Brandon P. Yoder, Vice President for the Americas at Tent Partnership for Refugees.

"This step consolidates a collaboration that has been strategic and deeply humanitarian from the start, focused on creating more opportunities for refugees in Mexico to find jobs and integrate economically," said Director Del Moral.

"Over the past three months, Tent Mexico has increased hiring by more than 400%. We couldn't have achieved this without AMEXCID's collaboration-they are our primary partner in Mexico," said Brandon Yoder.

Both organizations are working together under the Humanitarian Model for Human Mobility and the Refugee Employment Strategy, pursuing shared goals to help this population become self-sufficient and contributing members of Mexican society.

The collaboration has created practical tools including connections with corporate operational teams, validation of complete documentation, preparation of job profiles, and tailored recruitment strategies for partner companies.

These strategies include programs with various companies in sectors such as aviation and hospitality, and the launch ofTent Mexico's operations in Tapachula, posting job openings, and enrolling refugees on their recruitment portal.

"Each placement represents a story of restored dignity and a real opportunity to transform mobility into productive and social integration," emphasized AMEXCID's Executive Director.

The individual placement strategy has been key, guiding refugees through every step-from registration and assembling documentation to building job profiles, corporate referrals and follow-up, ensuring they secure legitimate formal employment.

Additionally, implementation of the job placement programs has been highly effective. It brings together companies that provide transportation and temporary housing with AMEXCID's operational support and emergency funding facilitated by Tent Mexico.

Thanks to this collaboration, several dozen refugees have been placed in formal jobs with companies in Tent Mexico's network over the past three months.

The Memorandum of Understanding will expand the reach of this collaboration, strengthen interagency coordination, and position this public-private cooperation model as an international best practice that promotes social cohesion, economic revitalization, and sustainable integration.

Also participating in the meeting were Fátima Ríos González, Director General of Mobility at the Foreign Ministry; Sandra Velasco López, Director for Tent Mexico; Arturo Rocha, Deputy Director for Tent Mexico; Sandra Méndez Hernández, Director of International Cooperation for Immigration and Human Mobility; Ignacio Ramírez Sánchez, international consultant for UNDP; and AMEXCID Chief of Staff Aide Flores Delgado.
