USDA Rural Development Announces $26.5 Million Community Facilities Loan for Kearny County Hospital in Lakin

(Lakin, Kans., October X, 2026) - The U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development announced $26.5 million in Community Facilities Loan funding to expand a clinic and remodel existing facilities at Kearny County Hospital in Lakin, Kansas.

These improvements will strengthen healthcare services for residents in Lakin and the greater Kearny County area, expanding access to essential health and wellness care in rural Kansas.

"Under the leadership of President Trump and Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins, USDA Rural Development delivers investments that bring renewed prosperity and opportunity to rural Kansas," said Rural Housing Service Administrator George Kelly.

USDA Rural Development administers this funding through the Community Facilities Direct Loan Program , which provides affordable financing to develop essential community facilities in rural areas.
