Faith Blethen (l) and Luisa Borges will join the board on June 1.
The George Washington University Board of Trustees has announced the election of two new members, Faith Blethen, B.S. '23, M.Acc. '24, and Luisa Borges, who will join the board June 1.
"We are pleased to welcome two outstanding new members to the GW Board of Trustees," said Board Chair Grace Speights, J.D. '82. "Their diverse experience and deep ties to our community make them ideal partners as we move forward together to further GW's mission and implement the university's strategic framework. We look forward to the perspectives and leadership they will bring to this important work."
"Faith and Luisa bring a strong commitment to education, community engagement and enhancing opportunity, and I look forward to partnering with them as we continue expanding GW's impact," said GW President Ellen M. Granberg.
More about the new trustees:
Faith Blethen, B.S. '23, M.Acc. '24, is a senior consultant at Deloitte in the Audit and Assurance practice. She earned both her Master of Accountancy and Bachelor of Science in accountancy with a minor in economics from the GW School of Business. Blethen is a certified public accountant license in Virginia.
During her time at GW, Blethen distinguished herself as a Division I student-athlete and four-year captain of the women's basketball team. She also served on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, including as finance chair, where she strengthened communication between student-athletes and university leadership and led initiatives focused on civic engagement and community building. Her dedication to service extended into the Washington, D.C., community through volunteer work with organizations such as Grassroots Health, where she mentored middle school students and promoted health education.
As an alumna, Blethen remains engaged with the university through mentorship, volunteerism and philanthropic efforts, particularly supporting student-athletes and fostering alumni connection. She brings a strong commitment to service, financial acumen and a collaborative leadership style shaped by her academic, athletic and professional experiences. Deeply connected to the GW community, she is passionate about advancing the university's mission and ensuring that students are equipped to lead with integrity, resilience and purpose.
Luisa Borges is a community leader and supporter of cultural and educational initiatives. She has been a member of GW's Family Advisory Council since October 2024 and is a proud GW parent.
Borges has a strong record of philanthropic engagement and civic involvement, with a particular interest in advancing educational access and enriching community-based programs. She brings a global perspective to her work, informed by her international background and professional experiences.
In addition to her community and philanthropic activities, Borges is connected to the business and investment community in partnership with her husband, Frank Borges. Together, they support institutions and initiatives that promote opportunity, innovation and impact.
