Stark County Officials, State Legislators to Host Countywide Town Hall in Wyoming

January 21, 2026

SPRINGFIELD, IL - State Senators Neil Anderson (R-Andalusia) and Li Arellano, Jr (R-Dixon), along with State Representative Travis Weaver (R-Peoria) and Stark County leaders, will host a countywide Stark County Town Hall on Tuesday, January 27, at 6:00 p.m. at the Paramount Theater in downtown Wyoming.

The town hall will bring together all three Stark County mayors, the Stark County Board chairperson, the local school superintendent, business leaders, residents, and state legislators for an open and inclusive discussion on issues impacting the county and the region.

"State government can oftentimes be hard to follow, and some of our most rural communities feel forgotten," said Senator Anderson. "This meeting gives elected leaders a chance to provide a legislative update while hearing directly from the people we represent. Some of the best policy that comes out of Springfield starts with conversations like these."

"This town hall is about bringing people together and making sure Stark County has a seat at the table," said Senator Arellano. "Local voices matter, and this is an opportunity to hear directly from community leaders and residents about what's working, what isn't, and how we move forward together."

"Stark County thrives when local leaders and residents come together to share ideas and concerns," said Representative Weaver. "This town hall is an opportunity to listen, learn, and ensure that the priorities of our rural communities are reflected in state policy."

"Without our communities coming together, all three of our towns will continue to shrink," James Mercer, Mayor of Wyoming said. "This town hall is about working together to change that."

"Bradford has struggled for many years," Sharon Cauthon, Mayor of Bradford said. "Since taking office in May of 2025, the local leaders have been nothing but supportive in my growth as Bradford Mayor. This town hall meeting is just another example of change and our commitment to work together for the betterment of Stark County."

"The importance of teamwork in our efforts going forward is very valuable to us all," Larry Hollis, Mayor of Toulon said. "The voice of many over a few gets more attention and pooling resources is cost effective."

The event is open to the public, and residents are encouraged to attend, ask questions, and participate in the discussion.
