A safety issue has been identified with the Cambridge Audio Yoyo (M) portable Bluetooth speaker.

The lithium-ion battery inside the speaker may overheat and enter thermal runaway. As a result, the product may catch fire, emit smoke or eject hot battery material, including while it is charging. This presents a risk of fire, burns, other serious injury and damage to property. Units of the product have caught fire while charging. As a result, the product does not meet the requirements of the Radio Equipment Directive 2014/53/EU.

The product was sold by Richer Sounds in Belfast, Northern Ireland, to consumers with delivery addresses in Ireland. The recall applies to all Yoyo (M) portable Bluetooth speakers, including all three colour variants. No batch number was used for this product, and all units are affected by the recall.

What to do

If you own one of these products, stop using it immediately.

• Disconnect it from the power supply.

• Do not charge it.

• Store it away from combustible materials.

• Do not attempt to repair the product yourself.

• Do not put it in your household waste or in ordinary recycling. 

Consumers should register their details using the assessment form on the Cambridge Audio product safety recall page. Cambridge Audio is offering affected consumers a refund and will arrange for the product to be returned or safely disposed of.
