Cherokee Nation hosts spring break activities for kids

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. - Spend spring break with Cherokee Nation with a week filled with various activities at all the tribe's cultural destinations.

Make-and-take activities are offered Thursday, March 19, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and include the following:

  • Mini gourd necklaces at the Cherokee National History Museum, located at 101 S. Muskogee Ave. in Tahlequah.
  • Cornbead bracelets at the Cherokee National Prison Museum, located at 124 E. Choctaw St. in Tahlequah.
  • Mini booger masks at the Cherokee National Supreme Court Museum, located at 122 E. Keetoowah St. in Tahlequah.
  • Corn husk flowers at the John Ross Museum, located at 22366 S. 530 Road in Park Hill.
  • Twined bracelets at Sequoyah's Cabin Museum, located at 470288 Highway 101 in Sallisaw.
  • Basketweaving at the Saline Courthouse Museum, located at 55870 S. 490 Road in Rose.
  • Clay bead bracelets at the Cherokee Nation Anna Mitchell Cultural & Welcome Center, located at 953 E. Illinois Ave. in Vinita.

In addition, Cherokee Nation will host its third annual scavenger hunt at all museum properties from March 17-21.

Visitors will take a trip through time as they explore various destinations within the reservation and learn about Cherokee culture along the way. The Cherokee History Scavenger Hunt concludes at the Cherokee National History Museum in downtown Tahlequah with a prize for those who complete the challenge. The free activity can be downloaded here.

Cherokee Nation cultural destinations are open from 10.am to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
