Next Fallen Firefighter Ceremony Scheduled for April 20

The Raleigh Fire Department is continuing to honor its fallen firefighters with memorial ceremonies that will take place on or around the date of the firefighter's passing. The next ceremony will honor Firefighter 11 Paul A. "Pallie" Mimms and is scheduled for Monday, April 20.

The events include wreath laying, a bell ceremony, and remarks honoring the firefighter. Family members, retirees, and members of the department are invited to attend.

Ceremony to Honor Firefighter Mimms

The memorial for Firefighter Mimms is scheduled for April 20, at 11 a.m. at the Keeter Training Center.

Mimms died of an apparent heart attack while operating a pumper at a commercial structure fire on April 20, 1964. He fainted at the pump panel and was pronounced dead on arrival at Rex Hospital.
