Statement on Cambodia-Thailand border

New Zealand welcomes the ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand announced on 27 December following the General Border Committee meeting.

We welcome the steps taken since then to implement the ceasefire and the Joint Declaration signed in Kuala Lumpur on October 26, and the role of the ASEAN Observer Teams. We encourage both parties to continue this important work to protect civilians and achieve a fair and lasting peace, in line with international commitments.
