The Linn County Board of Supervisors is accepting applications to fill several voluntary appointments on County boards and commissions. Serving on a County board or commission is an excellent way to get involved with local government and contribute to the quality of life in Linn County.
Electrical Board of Appeals - three-year terms
There is one opening on the Electrical Board of Appeals. Individuals are appointed for three-year terms and may serve consecutive terms without limitation. Individuals applying to fill this vacancy must be employed by a utility company.
The Electrical Board of Appeals hears and decides on the suitability of alternate methods and materials for compliance with the National Electrical Code as adopted by Linn County. The board also participates in code development and makes recommendations to the Board of Supervisors.
General Assistance Advisory Committee
There is one opening on the General Assistance Advisory Committee. Individuals are appointed for three-year terms and may serve a subsequent term, but most rotate off for a year.
The General Assistance Advisory Committee provides input on services that provide temporary assistance to low-income residents who may be ineligible for state or federal assistance or waiting to be approved for state or federal assistance.
Historic Preservation Commission - three-year term
There is one opening on the Historic Preservation Commission. Individuals are appointed for a three-year term. Individuals applying for this vacancy should possess an interest or expertise in architecture, architectural history, historic preservation, planning, building rehabilitation, conservation in general, or real estate.
Members of the Historic Preservation Commission provide for the recognition and promotion of historic sites and historic preservation. Members possess interest or expertise in architecture, architectural history, historic preservation, planning, building rehabilitation, conservation in general, or real estate. This commission also promotes and conducts an educational and interpretive program on historic properties within its jurisdiction.
Planning & Zoning Commission- three-year terms
There is one opening on the Planning & Zoning Commission. Individuals are appointed for five-year terms and may not serve more than two terms. Commission members must live in unincorporated Linn County.
The Planning & Zoning Commission (PZC) makes recommendations on requests for rezonings, subdivision plats, and conditional use permits. In addition, the PZC makes recommendations on revisions to the Linn County Unified Development Code and the Linn County Comprehensive Plan.
Ryan White Home Health Advisory Committee - three-year terms
There are two openings on the Ryan White Home Health Advisory Committee. Individuals are appointed for three-year terms and may serve two consecutive three-year terms but then must rotate off the committee for a minimum of one year.
The Ryan White Home Health Advisory Committee advises on the delivery of services to individuals and families to enhance independence and improve family functioning for the healthcare needs of persons living with HIV disease by funding primary healthcare and support services.
