BELEN, N.M. - On June 18, 2026, U.S. Representative Gabe Vasquez (NM-02) visited Belen's wastewater treatment facility to highlight the over $1 million he brought home to the city to make much-needed repairs. The funding, which was secured through the Fiscal Year 2026 Community Project Funding process, will be used to repair cracks, rebuild a lift system, and build an aeration diffuser system - ensuring that every Belen resident has access to clean, safe drinking water.
"Belen is growing, which means its infrastructure needs to grow with it. I'm proud to have secured over a million dollars to rebuild the Belen wastewater treatment facility, and it was great to see it up close this week," said Vasquez. "New Mexicans know just how precious water is, and I'm making sure every Belen resident has clean and safe drinking water - and that water systems in every corner of our district have the best and latest technology to ensure safe water processing and clean results."
Through Community Project Funding, Rep. Vasquez has brought home over $30 million in funding to rebuild roads, police departments and firehouses - making New Mexico safer and more affordable, one project at a time. He's also supported USDA Rural Development Water programs, which help rural communities construct and upgrade drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure systems.
