Dollar General and Icy Hot® are Here For What Matters in Hendersonville, North Carolina

This week, Dollar General and Icy Hot®, an Opella brand, partnered to give back to Hendersonville, North Carolina through debuting a revitalized basketball court at Sullivan Park with City officials and presenting a total of $50,000 in donations to support the County's literacy and education programs to Henderson County school representatives. The donations included a surprise $25,000 to Henderson County Public Schools from DG and $25,000 to Henderson County Education Foundation from Icy Hot.

"Dollar General is thrilled to partner with Icy Hot to give back to our neighbors and support a thriving community in Henderson County," said Denine Torr, Dollar General's vice president of corporate social responsibility and philanthropy. "We have a longstanding presence in Henderson County, having opened our first store more than 30 years ago in 1992. We look forward to furthering our mission of Serving Others and seeing the positive impact the new court and literacy donations will have on the community."

Originally built in 1982, Sullivan Park's reopening comes nearly one year after Hurricane Helene brought devastating floods, landslides, and widespread power outages to the Hendersonville community, closing the park. As a cornerstone for youth sports, community gatherings and Henderson County students, Sullivan Park's basketball court reflects Dollar General and Icy Hot's collective work to help ensure its neighbors have vibrant spaces to play, learn, grow and thrive.

Dollar General's surprise $25,000 donation to Henderson County Public Schools will help advance the district's current literacy and education programs through the purchase of books, technology programs, computers and/other needed resources. Icy Hot's $25,000 donation to the Henderson County Education Foundation plans to enhance educational opportunities for students and educators.

"Basketball courts serve many purposes. They're where friendships are built, where kids develop confidence, and where neighborhoods come together," said Marlo Yates, Senior Manager of Icy Hot Shopper Engagement. "At Icy Hot, our mission goes beyond delivering powerful pain relief; we're dedicated to creating safe, supportive spaces where dreams can take root. Seeing this court and park full of energy and excitement shows the strength, hope, and resilience of this community."

Icy Hot also provided new basketballs and basketball racks, along with two new player benches located near the court.
