The University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) is proud to announce the installation of a new videoboard and sound system at Gayle and Tom Benson Stadium. The videoboard was fully funded through the generous private donations from UIW supporters and will benefit all programs that utilize the stadium. This marks the first major physical improvement to Benson Stadium since 2009 and is the first phase of the Benson Stadium Enhancement Project.
"This project would not have been possible without the extraordinary generosity of our donors. Their support reflects a shared commitment to excellence and ensures that UIW Athletics can continue to provide an exceptional experience for our student-athletes, fans and the entire Cardinal community," says Matt Carson, UIW Athletics Chief Revenue Officer.
The new videoboard represents a 300% increase in board size and visibility. Replacing the old videoboard and sound system will allow for the enhancement of the stadium experience in several areas including gameday management and fan engagement.
UIW partnered with the industry-leading, national signage firm Watchfire on the videoboard project. Watchfire has designed, developed and installed videoboards for dozens of groups including the Houston Astros and along Fremont Street in Las Vegas.
"We are extremely proud to partner with UIW on the scoring, video and sound transformation at Benson Stadium," says Clint Burges with Watchfire. "From the beginning, our focus was on creating a complete solution where every component worked together to support the Cardinals' game-day experience. UIW has tremendous momentum and we are excited to be part of what they are building for their student-athletes, staff and fans."
In addition to the videoboard, updated branding and signage banners have gone up throughout Benson Stadium thanks to the generosity of the ForeverFirst Foundation.
The new banners highlight the accomplishments of all five UIW athletics programs that compete in the stadium.
