On October 26th, 2025, a year-long investigation into an attempted robbery of a gas station came to a close with the arrest of Arcturus Wiggins (a 49-year-old man from Richmond).
On November 21st, 2024, at 6:34 pm, a lone suspect entered Chevron Gas station (1399 San Pablo Ave) armed with a silver revolver handgun. The suspect threatened the clerk and tried multiple times to get through the clerk's protected glass cashiers' area. Unable to get through, the suspect used the pass-through drawer to put his hand through-pointing the gun at the clerk and terrifying her.
Although the suspect was not located that night, officers retrieved security footage from the area that recorded the suspect. Using that footage, detectives shared the images with other law enforcement agencies in the region. In December 2024, Marin County Sheriff's Office informed us that they arrested a man who committed several robberies in that area using a silver revolver. They identified this man as Arcturus Wiggins.
Using ALPR technology, detectives found images of Wiggins' vehicle driving in the area around the time of the attempted robbery. Additionally, detectives noted that the unique silver revolver used in the Marin County Sheriff's Office case appeared to be the same revolver used in the Berkeley case.
Based on this information as well as other information learned during the investigation, detectives requested a warrant for Wiggins arrest-granted on February 7th, 2025.
On October 26th, Pittsburg PD arrested Wiggins for his warrant and informed us that he had also been arrested for evading the police and resisting arrest.
On October 28th, the Alameda County District Attorney's Office charged Wiggins with PC 211-Robbery, with several case enhancements.
This is one more example of how technology coupled with diligence and collaboration can aid in keeping the public safe, while not tolerating senseless gun crimes in our community.
